FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How and when I can cancel my reservation?

If you are unable to attend, the reservation must be cancelled immediately by phone or email.

Please see the detailed cancellation terms below under the "Booking and Cancellation Terms" section.

Reservations made through other booking channels (e.g., booking.com) must be cancelled directly through their website. These reservations may also be subject to different cancellation policies which you accepted at the time of booking, so please review them carefully before attempting to cancel.

What to do if I lose or misplace the cottage key?

The person who made the reservation is responsible for the key and the cottage during the reservation period. If the key is left inside the cottage, a fee of 30 € will be charged for unlocking the door (40 € during the night from 11 PM to 6 AM and on public holidays). If the key is lost, the cost of changing the lock will be charged to the guest.

Can I bring my own hot tub (palju) to the cottage reservation?

You are allowed to bring your own hot tub or a rented one to the villas. A fee of 60 € will be charged for filling the tub with water and for any firewood used for heating, if applicable.

Unfortunately, hot tubs cannot be rented through us.

Can I bring pets to the area?

Pets are warmly welcome with us, but please remember to inform us in advance about bringing your pet. If necessary, please reserve a separate sleeping place for your pet, as pets are not allowed on the bed or sofa.

A fee of 10 € per night will be charged for pets staying in the holiday villas and cottages. The pet fee does not cover any damage caused by the pet or additional laundry costs for cleaning textiles.

A pet's illness is not a valid reason for cancelling a reservation. The guest is responsible for cleaning up after their pet on maintained lawn areas.

In summer, you are also welcome to bring your pet to the terrace of Kesäravintola Rauhalahti!

Can a minor accommodate in cottages?

Minors are welcome to stay on our premises.

We require that each minor guest has a written permission note from their guardian, either with them or sent in advance via email. The note must include the guardian's phone number.

NOTE! The age limit for booking holiday villas is 22 years. For holiday villa bookings, we require that the guardian comes to the location to fill out the passenger declaration and is therefore fully responsible for the holiday villa..

All guests staying in the cabin are jointly responsible if the property is intentionally damaged or stolen. We will report any vandalism to the guardians and, if necessary, to the police.

Is there a restaurant in the area and is breakfast included in the accommodation price?

On our premises, you'll find the Kesäravintola Rauhalahti, which operates during the summer season. You can find the opening hours and menu services-page.

Breakfast is not included in the accommodation price. During the summer season, breakfast can be purchased at Kesäravintola Rauhalahti, priced at 14.50 € for adults and 8.00 € for children.

In summer, you are also welcome to bring your pet to the terrace of Kesäravintola Rauhalahti!

Can I book a specific cottage or caravan pitch number?

Unfortunately, we are unable to accept bookings based on specific cabin numbers or designated spots for recreational vehicles.

You can always request a specific cabin number or RV spot, and we will note it as a preference on your reservation. Please keep in mind that we may not always be able to fulfill these requests.

For reservations made through our online store, you can submit all preferences regarding cabin numbers, location, and any other requests (such as a travel cot for a baby) directly during the booking process Additional Information- field.

Do I need to reserve a pitch for the motorhome / caravan in advance?

During the summer season, a spot may not need to be reserved in advance if arrival is within the reception's opening hours. In summer, we are available daily from 7 AM to 11 PM, while in winter, our hours are Monday to Friday from 8 AM to 4 PM.

In winter, a reservation is required in advance due to the limited number of spots available!

You can easily make a reservation in advance by emailing us at sales@visitrauhalahti.fi or by making a reservation directly from our online shop!

We recommend including the following information in your email to make the reservation process easier: number of people, accommodation dates, and whether you have any discount cards.

Do the cottages/villas have own address? Where are the cottages /villas located?

Our address is Rauhankatu 3, 70700 Kuopio, Finland.

The cabins do not have their own addresses, as all cabin types are located within our area. At the reception, we will guide you to the cabins using an area map. During the summer season, the reception is located right next to the entrance gates. In the winter season, we are at the winter reception at the far end of the area.

Can I check into the cabin earlier / check out later on the departure day?

The check-in time for holiday villas is at 3 PM, and for other cabins, it is at 4 PM.

The check-out time for previous guests is at 12 PM. Depending on availability, earlier check-in or later check-out can be purchased for 10 € per hour.

Does public transport go to Rauhalahti and is it easy to get to the city center?

It is easy to reach us by public transport directly from Kuopio city center, and also from us to the city center.

The buses number 7 and 16 depart right next to the area, so departure and arrival are easy. You can find the detailed timetables here.

In the summer, you can find city electric bikes at the parking lot of the Rauhalahti Spa Hotel, making it easy to get going. See more about bikes.

Does the campsite include a laundry facility?

Our area has two service points with laundry facilities where you can wash your clothes. Laundry detergents are not available by the washing machines, but if needed, you can purchase them at our reception! Guests staying in the holiday villas have a washing machine in their villa.

CANCELLATION AND ACCOMMODATION TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Accommodation

The accommodation day begins at 4 PM for cabins and at 3 PM for holiday villas. The accommodation day ends at 12 PM for all cabins. .

Pre-booked cabins are held until 6 PM unless a later arrival has been agreed upon (paid cabins/caravan or tent spots are held even after 6 PM).

For caravan and tent spots, the accommodation day begins at 3 PM on the day of arrival and check-out is at 2 PM on the day of departure.

Cancellation terms and conditions

If you are unable to arrive, the reservation must be cancelled immediately by email to the location where the reservation was
made.

  • Reservations for a single accommodation unit and for a maximum of two nights can be cancelled by 12:00 PM on the day before the reservation begins. For cancellations made after this time, the accommodation provider has the right to charge the full value of the reservation.
  • Reservations involving multiple nights or accommodation units can be cancelled by the customer up to 7 days before the reservation start date.
  • Sauna and equipment rental reservations can be cancelled by 12:00 PM on the day before the reservation. For cancellations made after this time, the accommodation provider has the right to charge the full value of the reservation.


The amount paid by the customer will be refunded, minus a cancellation fee, which is
a) Cancellation fee 50 € applies to reservations with a total value of 200 € or more.
b) Cancellation fee 25 € applies to reservations with a total value of 50 - 199 € or more.
c) Cancellation fee 15 € applies to reservations with a total value of less than 50 €.


If you have chosen Walley invoice as your payment method, you may incur additional costs from the lender.

Reservations made for special events (e.g., Midsummer, Christmas, regional festivals) can be cancelled free of charge up to 30 days before the reservation start date.
For cancellations made later, the accommodation provider has the right to charge compensation based on the agreed price as follows:

  1. 8-29 days before the reservation start date: 50% of the reservation value for the period when the accommodation unit
    has not been rebooked.
  2. Less than 7 days before the reservation start date: 100% of the reservation value for the period when the accommodation unit
    has not been rebooked.

Special event bookings must always be paid in advance, either through the online store or via invoice. If the customer fails to make the payment by the due date, the service provider may unilaterally cancel the reservation and make the accommodation
available for sale again.


Note: Failure to make payment is not considered a cancellation! If the customer does not cancel their reservation and the accommodation remains unsold due to the unpaid reservation, the full price of the reservation will be charged to the customer who did not show up.

If the customer cancels their reservation, the full price will be charged for the unused period.

Service provider's right to cancel a reservation

The campsite is not responsible for cancellations caused by force majeure n such cases, the customer is entitled to receive a refund of any accommodation fees they may have paid in advance. The service provider's liability is limited to the refund of the paid amount, and there is no obligation to offer an alternative accommodation.
In the case of force majeure, the service provider may, if possible, offer the option to change the reservation to another type of accommodation instead of cancellation.


The service provider has the right to change the service, its content, availability, and the terms of this agreement at any time, by notifying the customer on its website. The changes will take effect immediately, but the terms that apply to the customer's reservation will always be those in effect at the time of booking.

Groups

A group is defined as a party that has booked at least 3 accommodation units.

The group has the same check-in and check-out dates, and the payment is made collectively or charged on a single invoice.

Reservation and Confirmation:

  • When making a reservation, the name, phone number, email address, and payment method of the person making the reservation must be provided.

Guests

  • We kindly ask that you provide the group’s details 14 days before the reservation start date
  • the tour leader's information (name, phone number, email)
  • the group's name list (last name, first name, date of birth, nationality, address, and passport
    /ID card number for foreign guests
  • Room assignments for the guests
  • any special dietary requirements for ordered meals

Payment Terms and Invoicing:

  • Group bookings are invoiced 30 days before the reservation start date, with payment terms of 10 days net.
    If the booking is made less than 14 days before the reservation start date, the due date is immediate.
  • The prices in the offer require a single invoice for the entire group. Invoicing will be based on the confirmed number of people, or if the number increases beyond the initially stated amount, according to the actual number. A billing fee of 15 € will be added to the invoice.
  • Post-billing requires that the customer has a pre-existing and valid billing agreement with Suomi Camping Oy. The payment terms are 10 days net.
  • The accommodation provider may require full or partial payment for larger bookings.
    If the agreed full or partial prepayment is not made by the due date,
    the accommodation provider has the right to cancel the reservation.

Group Cancellations:

  • Cancellations of group reservations must be made by email to the accommodation provider.
  • In case of cancellations, the accommodation provider has the right to charge compensation from the paid amount as follows:
    • cancellation fee is 50 €
    • For a reservation cancelled less than 14 days before arrival (either the entire reservation or part of it),
      the service provider has the right to retain 100% of the total price of the reservation.
    • For a reservation cancelled less than 14 days before arrival (either the entire reservation or part of it),
      the service provider has the right to retain 100% of the total price of the reservation.

No-show:

  • The full price of the agreed services will be charged.
  • Departure before the agreed time: The full price will be charged for the unused period.

Accommodation and cleaning the cottage

Key pickup and return are done at the Rauhalahti Holiday Center reception (Rauhankatu 3, 70700 Kuopio). In the winter, the key pickup must be arranged separately, and the key should be returned in the blue mailbox on the reception wall upon departure.

Customers are required to use bed linen, sleeping bags, or similar. A charge may be applied for laundering bedding if a customer sleeps without sheets. Bed linen is included in the accommodation price for holiday villas, log cabins, and cabins with a sauna. Bed linen is not included in the price of camping cabins or holiday cottages.

Basic cleaning is included in the accommodation price. However, guests are expected to put things back in place, wash dishes, take out the trash to the designated waste points, and take bottles and cans with them. Spilled liquids, stains, etc., must be cleaned up. Bed linen should be removed and left on the bed. We reserve the right to charge the customer afterward if the cabin requires additional cleaning or the use of special cleaning agents.

Final cleaning can be purchased at the time of booking, with a fee of 80 €.

Public disturbances

If a customer behaves contrary to the general rules of the campsite or the instructions given by the campsite staff, and despite a warning from the campsite representative continues to cause disturbance, the campsite has the right to immediately cancel the reservation. The actual costs incurred from the above actions will be charged to the person who made the reservation.

During the summer season, there is a night guard on the premises, who can be reached in case of disturbances by calling the reception phone at +358 300 870 875.

Damages, defects, and complaints

Any comments regarding the equipment or condition of the accommodation unit should be immediately directed to the campsite staff, so that they can be repaired or compensated for, if possible, during the stay. If the issue cannot be resolved or compensated on-site, a written complaint must be made.

The customer is also obligated to immediately report and compensate for any damage caused to the accommodation unit or other buildings on the campsite and their contents. Unreported damages will be invoiced based on actual costs afterward. The person who made the reservation is fully responsible for maintaining the condition of the accommodation unit during their stay. The service provider is not responsible for issues caused by third parties (e.g., interruptions in water or electricity supply, telecommunications, or TV networks).

Number of persons

The maximum allowed number of people in the accommodation unit is the same as the number of beds and extra beds. The number of people must be provided in the passenger declaration no later than at check-in, and it must not be exceeded.

Obligation to provide traveller information

According to accommodation regulations, the traveler must complete a passenger declaration before check-in. The customer has the option to fill out and print the electronic passenger declaration,which speeds up the check-in process.

The passenger declaration must be completed no later than at check-in. Failing to provide the required information or providing false personal details is punishable under criminal law.

Smoking

Smoking is only allowed outside the accommodation units. For unauthorized smoking indoors, the service provider has the right to charge for cleaning, ventilation, and any unnecessary security visits incurred as a result.

Lost property

Lost property is kept for 3 months and can be picked up at the reception free of charge. The costs associated with shipping lost property are the responsibility of the customer.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

Arrival

  • Check in at the reception when you arrive, and provide identification if requested.
  • Fill out the guest registration form, and it's even better if you've already completed it in advance.
  • Follow the staff's instructions when making payments
  • For group bookings, the group leader will handle the check-in.
  • If you arrive late or depart early, avoid unnecessary disturbances.

Accommodation

  • Follow the staff's instructions when choosing your campsite
    and positioning your motorhome, tent, and vehicle.
  • The distance between motorhomes and tents must be at least four (4) meters. Group accommodation tents must be arranged separately.
  • Overnight stays are only allowed in motorhomes, tents, and cabins.


    Fixed arrangements and structures around your campsite (e.g., flagpoles, terraces,
    fences,

    ditches) are prohibited without the staff's permission.
  • Maintain cleanliness in the cabins and follow the provided instructions.

Staying in the area

  • Fires are allowed only at designated fire spots.
  • The bringing of firearms, dangerous bladed weapons, and other disturbing or dangerous objects onto the premises is prohibited.
  • Identifiable vests or accessories that could suggest criminal activity, or be easily associated with it, are prohibited.
  • Radio, TV, and music volume should be kept discreet at all times, day and night.
  • Ensure that children's play does not disturb other guests. Ball games are allowed only in designated areas.
  • Pets must be kept on a leash and exercised only in designated areas.
  • Avoid unnecessary movement with motor vehicles around the area, and follow speed limits and traffic signs.
  • Exceptionally loud vehicles such as cars, motorcycles, tractors, etc., must be parked in areas outside the premises.
  • Silence is required between 24:00 and 06:00.
    During this time, driving, loud talking, listening to music

    , and other disturbances are strictly prohibited. There is security personnel on-site. Please report any disturbances immediately to the staff at phone number +358 300 870 875. 0300 870 875. Disturbers may be removed from the premises.
  • Trading or related activities without permission are prohibited.
  • Disruptive alcohol consumption is prohibited.
  • Respect other guests and do not cause disturbances.
  • Visiting the area is only allowed with permission from the staff.

Liability

  • Each guest is responsible for their own property.
  • Any belongings kept on the premises are at the guest’s own risk.
  • Anyone who causes damage is primarily liable for compensating the damage.

Cleanliness and tidiness

  • Keep your campsite area clean and tidy up thoroughly before leaving.
  • Dispose of your waste in the designated waste bins.
  • Washing, doing laundry, and drying clothes are only allowed in designated facilities.
  • Leave the facilities you use clean for the next guest.
  • Car washing and maintenance are only allowed in designated areas.
  • Chemical toilet and grey water must only be emptied at designated dumping stations.
  • Leave the cabin clean when you depart and remember to take out the trash.
  • Use electricity and water sparingly.
  • Protect the natural surroundings and plantings — do not litter.

A PERSON WHO DOES NOT FOLLOW THE GIVEN INSTRUCTIONS MAY BE REMOVED FROM THE AREA.
